Bat

Description

Bats (Desmodus rotundus)

These flying mammals are one of the few furred creatures that developed a cooperative relationship with birds. Bats served as “night spies” for crows and later, for the Thrush. These nocturnal mammals were particularly well suited to gathering information in the night due to their acute sense of hearing that gave them ability to “see” in total darkness using sonar.
The bat depicted in this illustration (a Vampire bat) has the additional ability to sense the heat and blood of it’s prey.
